Hidden Adventures in The Palm Beaches

Planning your Florida Vacation?
 Discover Palm Beach Gardens
The Hidden Adventures in the Palm Beaches

Your Hidden Adventure begins at Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens.  Just off PGA Boulevard, this All Suite hotel is the perfect vantage point to visit and experience the best in the Palm Beaches.

Day 1
You'll begin by spending your first night in your two room suite.  Enjoy the free cooked to order breakfast so you and yours have enough energy for all the adventures ahead.
As part of the hotel's "Life is a Beach Package" the hotel shuttle will take you to Singer Island Beach.  One of the highest rated public beaches in all of Florida.    Enjoy the seven miles of pristine beach..

Enjoy a picnic lunch at the beach or when the hotel shuttle picks you up, grab some lunch back at the hotel.  Then you can freshen up and continue on your adventure.  Next stop is
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter Florida.  ...more than just a place to see animals, this is  a real wildlife adventure!

The Sanctuary offers visitors a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn about Florida’s wildlife and natural environments.  This unique refuge combines a nature center with a wildlife hospital.

Nature trails lead visitors through pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, and cypress wetlands.  Along the trails are wildlife habitats exhibiting a variety of native animals from eagles to panthers, crocodiles, foxes, snakes, bears, and more. (oh...my!)

Return back to the hotel and reminiscence about your 1st day of Hidden Adventures at the Complimentary Evening Reception. or enjoy a glass of wine at Verdea's Wine Bar.   Enjoy some of the free snacks and then have dinner at Verdea Restaurant.  Then its back to your two room suite to rest up for Day 2.

Day 2
Don't forget breakfast!  Say good morning to the Royal Swans, Bach and Beethoven, as you head to your car.  Today you're headed out to the John D. MacArthur State Park   A unique mixture of coastal and tropical hammock and mangrove forest, this barrier island provides a haven for several rare or endangered native tropical and coastal plant species. The park's Nature Center shows visitors why the park is a biological treasure. Visitors can swim, picnic, and surf at the beach; scuba diving and snorkeling are also popular activities. Birdwatchers can see herons, brown pelicans, terns, sandpipers, and gulls. Anglers can fish in the lagoon by wading, kayaking, or canoeing. They can also fish from non-swimming areas of the beach.

After your Day at the Beach try a relaxing trip on the catamaran Mariah.  Here's a great way to see the Palm Beaches from the water.  There is something special about being under sail, blasting through the waves of the Atlantic Ocean.  Mariah is 28 feet wide and the perfect vessel to relax and see the Palm Beaches from the Oceanside.     But for those days when the ocean is misbehaving and just too rough, they have a great sail on the smooth waters of the Lake Worth Lagoon.

After the Mariah returns you to port, head back to the Embassy Suites Palm Beach Gardens for their Complimentary Evening Reception.   If its Wednesday, enjoy "Wine Wednesday" at Verdea. For dinner go to one of the many fine restaurants  at the Gardens Mall.  Located just half a mile away, this world-class shopping destination features many luxury stores, household name brands, and restaurants.  Or head to Downtown at the Gardens for more shopping and entertainment.

Ice Cream Country [infographic]

Posted: 09 Jul 2013 08:56 AM PDT

I live in Texas, and it is July. That means triple digit temperatures.  During the coming months, Texans gladly spend double on their electric bill, avoid getting in a vehicle for fear of melting, and require swimming pools be present at any daytime activities.

Now, if you give a Texan a swimming pool, he’s gonna want some ice cream immediately afterwards.  Don’t question this statement; it is a proven scientific fact.  I see the shift take place every summer; the level of ice cream consumption in Austin skyrockets.  Everywhere you turn kids are wiping tears away with their sticky fingers over a toppled ice cream cone.  I get it.  I would cry too if I had as little dexterity as they do.  Ice cream is a big deal.  Just yesterday I traded in my running shoes for a chocolate dipped soft serve at Sandy’s.

Speaking of ice cream, this infographic really spoke to me, recognizing not just one, but two Texas cities in the “Top Ten U.S. Ice Cream Consuming Cities.”  The only qualm I have with this infographic is that Blue Bell Creamery is missing.  For those of you out there that haven’t tasted the goodness of Blue Bell homemade ice cream, it’s time to put it on the bucket list.
